You may have recently received a letter from Humana clarifying some patients’ ID cards for dental coverage. See example image below.
Humana Medicare Advantage dental patients are typically on HMO medical plans. The embedded dental benefits on these plans are provided through the Humana Dental Medicare PPO network. These members will present their medical ID card, which will have “HMO” on the front. Turn the card over and look for the designation “DEN” at the bottom after “Additional Benefits,” which signifies the member’s dental plan.
If you are contracted with Humana PPO, covered procedures will be reimbursed according to your dental PPO contracted rates for patients with this coverage.
